Students at our Selby campus were invited to showcase their creativity by taking part in a vibrant collaborative art project. Learners decorated wooden mushrooms that will form part of a large-scale public art installation in Cornwall, where hundreds of pieces will cascade down a hillside to create a striking and colourful “river” of artwork.
The session was a huge hit with students, who enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to express themselves. Using acrylic pens, each learner personalised their mushroom with designs inspired by their own passions and interests. The finished pieces featured an imaginative mix of jungle animals, video game characters, delicate flowers, inspirational quotes and cartoons, resulting in a wonderfully diverse collection of artwork.
Students shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, describing the session as “awesome” and saying how much they enjoyed taking part. One learner proudly explained that their mushroom was created “for the kids and families” who will visit and enjoy the installation.
