Learners at our Selby campus were delighted to begin an exciting six-week programme in partnership with Leeds United Football Club.
The programme was organised by Oliver Souter, Lead Disability Officer at Leeds United FC, and delivered at Selby College. Sessions included a range of practical and physical activities designed to develop confidence, agility, teamwork and individual strengths. Activities took place both in the sports hall and outdoors on the football pitch, giving learners the chance to experience training in different environments.
Early sessions included a fast‑paced tag sport, encouraging learners to develop speed, observation and fine motor skills, followed by team‑based football activities that focused on communication and cooperation. Learners showed great enthusiasm, effort and stamina throughout.
Feedback from learners has been extremely positive, with many enjoying the energy of the sessions and feeling proud of their progress. The partnership has provided a fun, inclusive and motivating experience, supporting both physical wellbeing and personal development.
